Over 200 tree lovin’folk, including 50 Tree Champions were met with a delightfully bright day at Treefest 2020. Together we planted a whopping 6000 trees and celebrated with a fantastic knees up!
750 metres of native hedgerow and 1.5 hectares of new woodland were planted at Shillingford Organics, Ide Exeter. And we launched the Tree by Tree ‘Forest in a Box’ scheme, planting and leaving 400 tree seeds at the farm for future planting. Here’s what the landowner said;
“Thank you both so much for achieving what you did for us. It is an amazing thing to see that so much can be achieved by people having a great time.
You have a fantastic group of supporting you. They were so organised and committed to doing the best.
Mostly thank you to you for all the planning and organisation over a year that went into making the weekend such a success.
The bands were tremendous and talks interesting. I hope our paths cross soon. There is so much happening around ecological and environmental issues and the world is changing very rapidly. you are inspirational.“
– Martyn Bragg, Shillingford Organics, Ide Exeter
With very well attended talks by Matt Somerville of Bee Kind Hives, Tim Hutton of The Wild Circle and Chris Jones about reintroducing beavers into Cornwall. Storytelling performance by The Worm and music from Lower Drift, ZYLA and The Gumbo Flyers – we worked hard, but boy did we have a lot of fun afterwards!
Thanks to everyone who got a t-shirt printed too – wear them with pride, knowing that you’ve helped to fund the next Treefest tree planting festival!
